1978 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC

This stunning Australian delivered thistle green Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC C107 is in excellent shape for its age and kilometres. An original, three owner Sydney Eastern suburbs car. We have recently fitted some very nice white wall tyres to the factory spec Bundt style alloys which set the look of brilliantly.

The SLC is the fixed roof sibling to the R107 SL, however it is exceedingly rarer having only been in production from 1971-1981 with only 63000 units being built. It is also structurally tighter to drive than an R107 and more practical.

This example drives so well, has the right exhaust note and can snap on the V8 torque just as well as it did when it was new. All the bright-work is in very good shape as well as the rubbers, having recently undergone all new rubber seals treatment. The timber trim is very tidy too and the all electric windows are operating. The factory side louvers appear to be in excellent shape and the sunroof is operational. We have many thousands of dollars in recent maintenance documents, totalling in excess of $10k

The car has no rust issues and has clearly been garage kept for the bulk of its life. The paintwork still has a nice metallic lustre. The driveline is unbelievably tight and squeak free, leading to confirmation of the care and maintenance this car has enjoyed throughout its time.

SLC’s are now starting to hit their appreciation stride, trailing slightly in the wake of the SL’s but still in the realm of affordability without having to shell out ridiculous money for what is effectively an equal sibling. If you are pursuing an SL or have an appreciation for SLC’s this car is absolutely worth your time and consideration. It is by no means perfect and leaves a few things the new owner can tinker with if they desire. On the whole it presents, drives and looks so good for an original unrestored example.
